“100 miles is a long drive inside a car”
Moving to NYC has drastically changed my relationship with driving. Driving was freeing and relaxing when out on open roads. Traffic though… Something driving has done is take up a lot of my time. If I did my math right I have spent over 3,000 hours driving in my lifetime. Imagine how many more hours if I included any time I was inside a car.
Time - the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole
Two things came to mind when the prompt time was presented, how much I miss driving and the song A Life of Arctic Sounds by Modest Mouse (which has been stuck in my head for too many days now). In an attempt to represent time I made a visual where when the viewer is pressing designated keys and a car would start driving passing by collages of different sceneries one may see on a long roadtrip and playing the Modest Mouse song.
The collages are of many different scenes in one image, when i’m on a road trip all the hours and sceneries tend to blend into one.
I started with moving an object using keys and creating the scrolling background.
This is what it looked like when I got the code working but hadn’t added the visuals yet
Once the code worked I was able to focus on adding the visuals to represent what I was seeing in my head when I thought about time, driving, and the song.

After creating the main interaction of scrolling through the scenery, I wanted to make a starter page to inform the viewer which keys can be used.
I did notice that when the car moves it has two layers of the car and when reversed and stopped it leaves an image of the car in the background. Working on understanding why that happens and fixing it.
