“Just a lamp?”
porque (!sam) performing at the ITP New Interfaces for Musical Expression Showcase in 2024.
porque (!sam) [aka Sam De Armas] is playing an instrument she made called "Just a lamp?". An instrument that was sculpted using plaster and chicken wire and controlled on Ableton using capacitive touch sensors and potentiometers for the NIME course at ITP.
The process
These images are the two lo-fi prototypes created before moving to the larger structure. Started out as a single branch to an array of blocks to test multiple sensors at once in a quick and easy way.
Testing the lo-fi prototype for the instrument.
After getting the sensors to function properly I moved on the programming the LEDs.
