Week 8

Specific

  • What is your project's Hello World? Be specific.

    • The “Hello World” version for my project would be to get a page that automatically adjust the users videos as they enter and leave the site. When a user logs on and they are the only one they will take up the entire screen. As more people log on the hope is that the code will do the math to keep all the users on one page in a grid.

  • This is the mission statement for your goal.

    • My goal for the project is to create a calm, low stakes, experience with friends. I’m someone who enjoys doing mundane things with my friends so being on a video group chat with my friends while we all study and listen to our own personalized soundtracks is the equivalent to a night at the library studying together. My technical goals are to learn how to use Spotify’s API well, work on my basic front-end skills, and work on writing clear and efficient back-end code.

  • What actions will you take?

    • Since this is a combined final with another class I am able to put more time and effort into it than a solo project. I have booked office hours with both professors and the staff over at the coding lab to assist me in the moments I get stuck.

Measurable

  • What does success for your goal look like? (How much? How well?)

    • Success for me will be getting all the features working first and then making sure the code is written well. Aesthetics although very important are not my main concern.

Achievable

  • Is the goal doable?

    • I hope so. (Yes, I believe it is doable. At least the bare bones of my idea is definitely doable.

  • Does it inspire motivation over discouragement?

    • This project has me motivated to continue my journey into Spotify’s API as well as excitement to include this in my personal portfolio as someone who wants to work in this realm.

  • Is the goal realistic? Consider any obstacles or requirements to help you decide.

    • An obstacle I see potentially happening is me getting too focused on one issue/bug taking away from valuable time to work on other aspects. This tends to happen and this project will hopefully assist in breaking this habit of mine.

  • Do you have the necessary knowledge, experience, tools, skills, resources, and time? If not, what would it take to attain those?

    • I have plenty online, personal friends, peers, professors, and time. This should all lead to the success of this project.

  • Do you need to update your expectations?

    • As of now, no.

Relevant

  • How does your project's Hello World relate to or align with the goals in your original proposal?

    • My “Hello World” is a good base to continue working from for the remainder of the project.

  • What will this Hello World help you do next, in the near or distant future?

    • I will be able to focus on the Spotify API once I have the basics of the sites layout. I forsee working with the API to be the biggest hurdle I’ll face.

Time-bound

  • Can you do it in a week?

    • I thought I could but have found myself stuck. I’ve moved a bit forward but am now signed up to go to the coding lab to recieve assistance instead of spending hours stuck and wasting my time.

  • Time constraints also create a sense of urgency.

    • This is so true. Especially for someone like myself.
