Sam’s Phone || Josh’s Phone

Sam’s Phone or Josh’s Phone was created by Josh Zhong and Sam De Armas for the first Designing the Absurd Assignment.

Assignment:

Prototype and document a Phone Add-On device/object.

  • Thought Starters
    What qualifies as a phone add-on as opposed to an accessory?
    How is the device/object connected to or powered by the phone?
    Does the interaction serve any purpose?
    How does the form factor and attributes relate to the topic?

Conception:

Three ideas later… Josh and I decided to go with a more conceptual approach for the assignment. A phone attachment that mimics that of a payphone. The add-on would act as a way to commodify off of intentionally selling our privacy.

The add-on encourages viewers to pay 25 cents for 10 seconds of unrestricted access to either Josh’s or my phone.
